Motor Centre Toyota proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of our founder, a renowned businessman and philanthropist, Mr Abdul Satar Dada, who has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters, Honoris Causa (DLitt) by the University of Botswana. This prestigious recognition, conferred during the University’s 42nd Graduation Ceremony on October 17, 2024, honors his outstanding contributions to the humanities, social sciences, and business sector.
Born on January 9, 1940, in Moshupa, Mr Dada has played a pivotal role in Botswana’s economic development, creating thousands of jobs through his entrepreneurial ventures. As the founder of the Associated Investment Development Corporation and owner of Tswana Pride, the country’s largest poultry business, he has significantly contributed to Botswana’s commercial landscape. His business portfolio also includes Motor Centre Botswana, a leading Toyota dealership, further cementing his influence in the automotive industry.

Beyond business, Mr Dada’s philanthropic efforts have transformed lives. He has made substantial contributions to community projects and charitable initiatives such as the construction of clinics and housing for vulnerable communities, and financial support towards Botswana’s COVID-19 relief fund.
His commitment to higher education is equally commendable. As the founder and long-serving chairman of the University of Botswana Foundation, Mr Dada has played a crucial role in raising millions of Pula for the institution over the past 23 years, leaving a lasting impact on students and the academic community.
Mr Dada’s leadership extends across multiple sectors. He has served on the boards of Orange Botswana, Botswana Railways, and various other institutions. His dedication to service is further reflected in his long-standing role as treasurer for both the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) and the Botswana Muslim Association, as well as his past position as President of the World Memon Organisation, a global charitable network.
